Review to the PTC-Conference 5th-8th May 2025, Estrel-Hotel in Berlin
The Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) 2025, held from May 5-8 at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin, marked its 20th anniversary with an expanded technical program.
This significant edition featured over 100 technical presentations across more than 40 sessions, making it a key global event for pipeline operators and experts.
Key topics included hydrogen integration, inline inspection, offshore infrastructure, CO₂ transportation, leak detection, control room management, climate adaptation, and methane reduction strategies.
Digitalisation and AI were prominent themes, with discussions focussed on enhancing safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Three expert-led panels provided insights into pipeline research trends.
In the panel discussion “Advances in Pipeline Research: Emerging Trends and Technologies”.ERIG’s Secretary General Hans Rasmusson, Aida Nonn/Aixima GmbH and Prof Jürgen Schmidt/CSE- Center of Safety Excellence, chaired by Prof Cliff Johnson/PRCI-Pipeline Research Council International, debated the future of gas infrastructure and its role in a climate neutral energy system
They highlighted the importance of gas pipelines for security of supply and longevity and demonstrated how research results on the hydrogen suitability of components and systems of an existing natural gas supply system can be used to minimise the conversion costs of the existing network for future hydrogen transport.
The conference also addressed managing aging pipeline infrastructure, future fuels like hydrogen and biogas, and the challenges of CO₂ pipelines and digital twins.
In the exhibition hall, leading companies showcased cutting-edge technologies and services, providing ample networking opportunities.
Overall, ptc 2025 was a very successful event well organised by EITEP in the renowned Estrel Hotel, which provided a great setting for the event.
