Review to Wind Meets Gas 2024 at Martinikerk in Groningen

We had the pleasure of attending the Wind meets Gas 2024 event and it was filled with valuable discussions and networking opportunities.
It was 2 days full of interesting impressions and high-leveled presentations in a very exceptional atmosphere.

Day 1: Barriers and Enablers to Realize Large Scale Energy Investments
The 3rd of October kicked off with insightful discussions on overcoming the reluctance to invest in the energy sector. High-profile speakers explored various solutions, including massive investment in electrolyser capacity and the European proposal to incentivise the alignment of market supply and demand through programmes such as H2Global. Another point was the potential of international infrastructure and policy coordination in regions such as the North Sea and the Baltic states, as well as the impact of flexible regulations to kick-start green molecule value chains at an early stage. The day ended with a memorable plenary dinner in the historic St Martin’s Church.

Day 2: The Future Generation On 4 October, the symposium extended a special invitation to the younger generation to discuss regional plans for a hydrogen economy based on offshore wind energy. Topics such as local acceptance, general welfare aspects and the feasibility of these plans were addressed and aspects from experiences from across North West Europe, in particular the North Sea and Baltic Sea region, were considered. The morning session was characterised by intensive interaction between the speakers and the audience.

Enterprise Europe Network Matchmaking This year’s event also featured pre-arranged face-to-face meetings as part of the Enterprise Europe Network’s matchmaking sessions. These sessions provided a fantastic opportunity to meet face-to-face with new potential business and research partners working in the energy sector and to connect with new partners.

ERIG was represented with a stand in the nave of the church as well as a stand in the matchmaking zone in the choir and had the opportunity to introduce our project DelHYVEHR.

Wind meets Gas 2024 was once again a dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives that will help shape the future of the energy transition.

We are looking forward to the next year’s event!
